Music Was the Beginning
For six years, I played bass in a heavy metal band throughout high school and college. I loved playing live music and entertaining people. When I decided to step away from music, I shifted my focus to photography, another passion of mine. To build my skills, I started by taking promotional and live photos for bands my friends were in. This led to opportunities at festivals like Knotfest with Slipknot, Summer Set with Kaskade and Deadmau5, and Summer Camp with Umphrey's McGee. It was at these events that I discovered my love for capturing the energy of people enjoying the show. For over a decade, I've been immersed in the Iowa City nightlife scene, working at venues such as Summit, Brother's, Blue Moose, Gabe's, and Union.
Over A Decade of Experience
With nearly 15 years as a self-taught photographer, I've developed a deep passion for all types of photography, not just in music and entertainment. I've covered a wide range of events, including:
• Working with Barstool Sports for the Iowa vs. Iowa State College Football Show and a Barstool Golf Tournament.
• Sorority events for Gamma Phi Beta, including formals, bid days, headshots for board members, and recruitment videos.
• Headshots and press kit photos for DJs.
• Various portrait photography sessions, including graduations, lifestyle shoots, maternity, and family portraits.
For over a decade, I've served as the in-house photographer and videographer for The Summit Bar, recently taking over all social media responsibilities. My diverse experiences have reinforced my love for photography and the joy of interacting with the people I capture.
